JOB TITLE: VAN DRIVER/DELIVERY PERSON FOR MEALS ON WHEELS PROGRAM
REPORTS: SENIOR CENTER DIRECTOR
DEPARTMENT: SENIOR CENTER
STATUS: NON-EXEMPT - PART TIME (NO BENEFITS)
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for safe operation of Senior Center van in delivering meals to the elderly and indigent for the Meals on Wheels Program.
MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITY:
Responsible for picking up and delivering meals from the Nutrition Center, located at the Senior Center.
Responsible for checking work schedule to get any changes in the assigned route daily.
Responsible for seeing that routine maintenance is performed on the van and that it is kept clean and ready to use.
Helps out in preparing meals and loads them in van for delivery.
May help out at the Senior Center as directed by the Senior Center Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Ability to work effectively as a team member in providing excellence in customer service to the citizens of Gordon County.
Skill in driving in a safe and responsible manner.
Ability to maintain a high degree of attention to road conditions and surroundings.
Ability to maintain considerable dexterity in the control of the van and in preventing damage to materials and equipment.
Knowledge of all areas of Gordon County or willingness to become familiar.
Ability to read road maps.
Ability to read, understand and carry out instructions from manuals.
Knowledge of basic rules of road safety and any Gordon County policy regarding safety.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma or Equivalency.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid Georgia Driver’ License.
Must be insurable under any County liability or motor vehicle liability insurance policy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme cold or heat. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and fumes or airborne particles.
PHYSICIAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands with dexterity; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
